Rangiora’s iconic High Street is at the retail heart of Waimakariri. As a critical shopping destination, Council is actively investigating how we can increase the resilience of services along the street for both businesses and the community.

As a business on, or near, High Street we know that you have experienced disruptions as a result of ageing water pipes recently.

We appreciate the impact that flooded streets and storefronts may have had on your business during these events and that is why we are looking at options for how we can prevent similar occurrences in future. While we cannot say what a fix looks like at this early stage, we are investigating the causes and potential solutions as well as other possible improvements.

We are conscious that there are several projects scheduled for the town centre precinct, including stormwater upgrades on Blackett Street over the coming months and the potential redevelopment of the Blake Street car park in early 2027, as well as other ongoing works such as BNZ corner.

We are acutely aware that further works on High Street, of any nature, will have an impact on your business, so we want to make sure that you are kept informed and consulted with as much notice as possible.
