We really do want this to be a community owned project so we need your help - so let us know what you think!
Once we’ve got your feedback, we will work this into some concept ideas and then come back to you to see if we are on the right track.
If this is something you would like to be involved in, please do let us know. It would be great to have people who regularly use the skate park and the area around to work with us to develop an awesome community space. Let us know your thoughts by 20 July 2020.

Maybe a 'wheels' theme to tie it into the skate park. Consider what girls might like to do too as the skate park appears to be predominantly used by boys/ guys. Can the walls of Dudley pool/ the squash club be utilised for a mini basketball court or maybe a climbing wall? or as part of a playground. Perhaps inground trampolines like Margaret Mahy Playground in ChCh. Cheers!

To the Waimakariri District Council. I believe that Dudley skate park is in need of some Modifications and I would really like to give my suggestions. First The seating situation is in dire need of an overhaul and here are some reasons why. There is only one place in the entire park where you can eat food and more tables would really increase the number of visitors to the park. Also, arguments can occur over who gets the seating and can turn violent making the park an unfriendly place for younger children. For younger children, the park is a little bland and I understand that you are trying to make the money go as far as possible so a playground is a very appealing option. Another point to consider is that younger children can get in the way of more experienced skaters and accidents occur daily. Lastly, lots of kids do swimming lessons and while they swim younger siblings have nothing to do this is a clear problem that a playground would solve. In conclusion, I believe that the Dudley skate could be an amazing place for children of all ages and provide a great place for kids to get outside. This means that kids in the community would be spending less time on electronics and what parent doesn’t want that.
