What should we do about parking in Rangiora?
Our growing population is expected to increase pressure on parking in Rangiora, so we're proposing to budget for a car parking building for around 2028. What do you think?
What community facilities are needed in Woodend, Pegasus & Ravenswood?
One of the fastest growing areas in Waimakariri is in the Northeast, with Woodend, Pegasus and Ravenswood.
We currently rent space in Pegasus for community activities, but it’s too small. So we’re proposing to buy land and build new community centres for these areas.
What should we do with the Civic Precinct?
We’ve been discussing the concept of developing a Civic precinct – which would include an expansion to the Rangiora Library and the main Council building. We're proposing to put a hold on the project for now, what do you think?
Our Covid-19 economic recovery
Our local economy has done far better than expected through Covid19, however the Council is still looking for ways to support the Community's recovery in the Long Term Plan.
Responding to climate change & sustainability
Recent surveys show that around 70% of our community are concerned about climate change. The Council is currently working on a Climate Change Response Strategy that will guide our transition to a low-emission future.
Government-led review of water infrastructure
The Government's ongoing review of the three waters (drinking water, waste water and storm water), could have a big impact on how water services are delivered to our residents.
