We’ve received feedback that the Waikuku skate ramp may need some modifications to make it easier to use.
Some community members have raised concerns with Council that the Waikuku skate ramp appears to be underutilised. Feedback suggests its height and level of difficulty may discourage less experienced skaters.
There is interest in exploring whether modifications could improve accessibility and encourage participation across a wider range of ages and skill levels.
What we’re proposing
We want the Waikuku skate ramp to be a popular and inclusive facility. While there may be opportunities to make the ramp more accessible, we are keen to hear from the community, particularly those who currently use it. This feedback will help ensure that any improvements enhance the facility for new users without reducing its appeal or functionality for existing skaters.
Any modifications would likely come with significant cost, and if the community support making changes, an application for funding would need to be considered as part of the Long Term Plan.
