Update Following Public Meeting
On Tuesday 22 September, Council voted to apply for stimulus funding from the Government to fund the proposed upgrade to the Poyntzs Road scheme, to join with West Eyreton.
This funding is conditional on the work being fast-tracked, so the option of joining with West Eyreton is preferred versus the well drilling option, as we have the greatest certainty on the project being completed on time, and it getting the required outcome of a compliant and safe water supply for the scheme.
A meeting was held with residents on Thursday 24 September to ensure that the community was on-board with this proposal. It was concluded that applying for the Government funding was in the best interests of the scheme financially, but that there was still work to do regarding the proposed contribution towards the West Eyreton and Summerhill scheme, as well as some other issues related to the scheme.
A Poyntzs Road Water Supply Advisory Group is being established to work through these issues with staff, before making a recommendation back to Council. However, in the meantime, staff will submit the application to Government for the funding, then look to complete the physical works for the upgrade on parallel with ongoing consultation with residents.
This consultation has concluded.
