Migrants are a key part of our community. We want everyone to feel welcomed and empowered to get the very best outcomes.
We understand that settling in to a new country is a big step and it can take time to adjust to a new language, culture and community.
Waimakariri District Council’s role is to lead and represent our communities, looking after the needs of people currently living in the Waimakariri District and planning for the future. We engage with our communities and encourage participation in decision-making.
We provide quality infrastructure, public services and regulatory functions in a way that is most cost-effective for households and businesses.
The Council’s Community Team lead the work to support migrants and have developed programmes to do this. This can be anything from one-off events to bring migrants together to connect through to English language classes.
From time to time this is reviewed. Your feedback will help make sure what we provide is relevant and responds to what migrants need to feel settled and part of the community. To collect as much information as we can we have two surveys. One for individuals and one for agencies, organisations and employers supporting migrants to provide feedback.
What is this survey about?
It’s about gathering information on the trends and issues experienced by migrants and also by agencies, employers and stakeholders supporting migrants in the Waimakariri District.
Why do we need all this information?
We provide access to help and support for migrants settling into our District. We want to know about more about migrants experience and the issues the people you support / employ experience to make sure that we continue to help the migrant community as best we can. This information will be anonymised, and used by the Council in guiding the work done in this space. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
