Update on the Stockwater Race Bylaw Review
Thank you for your interest in the Council's Stockwater Race Bylaw 2019 review that we asked for feedback on recently.
48 participants provided their feedback, with four people wishing to present their views to a Hearings Panel on Wednesday 22 September 2021.
Some very useful information was provided from residents and users of the stockwater races, and the key themes that were identified in the feedback we received included:
- Financial inequity/value for money
- Flooding concerns
- Maintenance concerns
- Benefits of the stockwater races to the wider community and wildlife
- Stock pollution
- Accessibility
- Flow concerns
All feedback was discussed by the Council’s Hearing Panel on Wednesday 22 September at the hearing proceedings. The next step is for the Council to meet on 2 November to formally decide on adoption of the bylaw.
Thanks again for sharing your views with us and we look forward to your input into future projects.
