We'll soon be installing some new features around the skate park area in Dudley Park that we hope will bring more people to the area. You can check out the plan under 'documents' on the right of the page.

We're interested in understanding how people feel using the area before the new features go in. This includes how safe people feel, and whether there are things that people don't like about the area.

We'll ask again when the new features have been installed to see if feelings have changed, and if the features have encouraged a wider range of people to spend time at Dudley Skate Park.

Background

The idea to add new features around the Dudley Park Skate Park was initiated by the Waimakariri Youth Council. They wanted to see a wider range of young people using the area, and to create a community friendly hub to reduce some of the antisocial behaviour that has been reported in and around the skate park.

The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board approved funding of $20,000 to get the project off the ground, as well as a concept plan that was developed following feedback from the community.

This budget won't be enough to fully complete the project, and the Youth Council have committed to fundraising to add more features over time. Check out the concept plan under the documents tab on the right.

Wall Mural

The Waimakariri Youth Council received $3,000 from the Creative Communities Fund to install a mural on the wall of the Rangiora Squash Club, at Dudley Park. If you're interested in being involved in this project, either by sharing ideas or artistic talent we'd love to hear from you.
